TWIN TOWN TWO - a sequel to the cult classic - is to be made says Kevin Allen http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/7992135.stm  Whether the Lewis boys successfully motored to Morroco is not known. No doubt it will take a while for thi one to be in the cinemas.

THE CORK FERRY is coming back in the Spring subject only it would seem to a boat being bought by the Irish business people behind the plan  http://www.bringbacktheswanseacorkferry.com/  Whilst the ferry would no doubt be a good thing, getting to and from London in under 3 - or even 4 - hours would also be good.

ELECTRIFICATION of the entire Swansea-to-London route is crucial to support Wales’ economic needs of the next 25 years, according to a report from the Wales Transport Strategy Group. The think-tank says rapid rail transit connecting Wales to England and the rest of Europe is of vital importance to Welsh business and the economy in future years. Electrification of the entire line, as well as taking out stops after Bristol Parkway, would take journey times down by almost half an hour from 1hr 48min to around 1hr 25min. (That's if you are not travelling on a weekend.) While the 29-storey Meridian Quay Tower – being developed by Ferrara Quay in the Marina – is only two months from completion, its builder, Carillion has withdrawn from the £70 million project. The nightmare scenario is that we get left with some half built monstrosity http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/2009/04/09/trouble-at-the-tower-as-cash-row-halts-work-on-tallest-building-91466-23347271/

CHEAP. Swansea West MP Alan Williams had the fifth lowest expenses of any MP last year - only £80,526, which was less than the bill for the Home Secretary's husband's videos.

PIERLESS Plans have been unveiled for a £39m regeneration scheme which includes the restoration of Mumbles pier and a new luxury hotel in Swansea. It is anticipated that once complete, the scheme could deliver more than 225 permanent new jobs and generate more than £17m a year for the local economy. This comes on top of an anticipated 400 jobs during the construction period, plus additional local supplies and services. Proposals include demolishing the Pier Hotel and redeveloping the site as a luxury 150-bed hotel and spa, establishing a conference and exhibition centre, a family entertainment centre plus restaurants, improved public spaces and a new boardwalk linking Knab Rock to the pier. Cinderellas is, of course, long gone  http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/2009/03/25/39m-regeneration-plan-for-mumbles-pier-91466-23222078/

BBC report on plans to bridge a divided city http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/7775851.stm  But how realistic is this - particularly given the Credit Crunch? Swansea's City Centre is certainly in need of a boost. But there again once smart areas like the Uplands are currently looking like student ghettos.

Social depravation has been highlighted in another BBC report  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/7853988.stm
